What is the Adecco PayCheck Survey?

This year’s new and improved survey is an independent and unique combination of:

  • National pay scale information from the Office of National Statistics
  • Insight and opinions from 700 employers across the private and public sectors

Research was undertaken by Loudhouse Research, an independent UK consultancy; the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) provided additional consultation.

What will the PayCheck Survey do for you?

In addition to what you’d expect to find on salary scales and variations by region and job role, the report also provides useful insights into:

  • Organisational approach to recruitment
  • Recruitment methods, investment and timescales
  • Workforce management and employee attrition

Key findings

Businesses are struggling to keep track of employee costs and remuneration, and employers cannot account for the total ‘cost of employment’.

UK workplace ‘snapshot’

  • The average length of employment in the UK is 5.6 years
  • New recruits account for up to 28% of the workforce each year
  • 39% of new employees are sourced through professional recruiters
  • The average cost of bringing a new recruit on board is up to 37% in addition to annual salary; this means that a £32,000 Office Manager could cost up to £44,000 in the first year.

What else can you find in the report?

  • Where do pay or pension rank as the most influential investment factors for employers?
  • What’s most important when considering salary negotiations?
  • What methods are being used to recruit employees?
  • How does the length of the recruitment process vary?
  • How long do employees stay?
  • Why do people move on from their jobs?
  • What effect does attrition have on your workforce?
