Local Man is Adecco’s Temp of the Year

20 July 2009

Crawley man Martin Njoroge has been awarded Temporary Worker of The Year Award by Adecco as part of National Temporary Workers Week.

Martin, a temporary worker with Adecco in Redhill was nominated for the award by Senior Consultant Sarah McCormack, due to his outstanding performance and motivation at his temporary role. He has been temping through Adecco for over 4 years across a number of roles continually proving his commitment and positive work attitude to both Adecco and their clients; turning up to some assignments with less than 30 minutes notice.

The Adecco Temp of the Year awards recognises temporary workers who have demonstrated excellence in and dedication to their work. Branch managers from over 120 Adecco branches throughout the UK and Ireland were asked to nominate temporary candidates who have shown continual commitment in past or present placements. The top entrants were selected for each of the seven awards (The Extra Mile Award, Best Use of Temp Work to Expand Skill Set, Placement Student of the Year, Long-Term Temp, Trump Card Temp, Temp Diversity and overall Temp of the Year). Due to the high caliber of entries, Adecco decided to reward a further seven runners up in addition to the winners.

Adecco Senior Consultant Sarah McCormack commented, “It’s great that Martin has been selected for this award. Martin is a great worker and a real asset to Adecco. His positive, can-do attitude makes him an invaluable member of the team Martin has made a real difference in every role he’s been in and we can always place him with complete confidence.”

The Adecco ‘Temp of the Year’ awards are an annual event, designed to coincide with National Temporary Workers Week, an initiative created by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). The awareness week gives the recruitment industry the chance to recognise the often-unsung efforts of its temporary workforce by rewarding them for all their hard work and positive impact they have had on their workplace.

For many UK workers temporary work offers the flexibility and rewards they look for from their jobs. Temporary employees can be placed in any position, from school-leaver jobs to highly skilled executive positions and Adecco employs over 40,000 Adecco temporary candidates at any one time.

Christian De Conti, managing director for Adecco Group UK & Ireland comments:

“Temporary workers are sometimes undervalued in the UK workforce. Temps can be extremely beneficial to a business and during uncertain times can be an ideal solution for organisations needing periodic assistance. Workers like Martin demonstrate the huge benefit that temporary workers can offer businesses and these awards are a great way of recognising all the great work they do.”
