Adecco Cramlington are delighted to represent their client in their search for an Accountant Team Leader, this is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate looking for a next step in their career, or to be based within Northumberland rather than travel into Newcastle.


The successful candidate will be reporting into the Financial Controller, handling the full cycle of accounts payable activity from processing, tracking, and recording invoices through to processing payment within the UK and overseas.

The candidate will also be responsible for co-ordinating the activities of a small AP team, supervising the workload and ensuring that the company's procedures and policies are maintained.

Specific responsibilities:

1. Lead the AP team to ensure that all transactions are processed accurately in an effective and efficient manner.
2. Verifying vendor invoices and ensuring they are approved before processing them for timely payment.
3. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all vendors.
4. Resolving all invoice/purchase order queries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. 5. Running both the domestic and foreign payment runs, and associated file creations for upload to the bank.
6. Reconciling vendor accounts to ensure that all invoices have been correctly accounted for and pursuing any outstanding balances.
7. Maintaining the GR/IR clearing account to reduce the risk of accounting errors.
8. Setting up new vendor accounts and amending existing vendor details as necessary.
9. Supporting the month end process by preparing required documentation within the specified timeframe.
10. Assisting with internal and external audits by providing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
11. Ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls.
12. Reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
13. Continually reviewing processes to maximise efficiencies.
14. Adhering to agreed processes and controls, ensuring compliance with best practice.
15. Performing other duties and responsibilities as and when required to support the finance

Role Requirements:

1. Previous experience in a similar role, ideally with previous experience of working with
2. Proficient in Microsoft packages - e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook.
3. Meticulous attention to detail.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately with different stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
5. Excellent planning and organisational skills including the ability to work to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads where necessary.
6. The ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and flexible approach to work.
7. The ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
8. Additional language skills would be a distinct advantage.
