I am currently looking to recruit an experienced accounts assistant to work for our local client based in Newcastle. The position is temporary with the opportunity to lead to a permanent role for the right candidate. Full time, working Monday- Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. Salary from £9.00 p/h. The successful person will assist the company secretary with company accounting processes. Duties will include matching invoices to goods, allocating purchase invoices and direct debits into the system, entering credit account details onto sage, obtain receipts from all card holders, prepare weekly payment runs to suppliers and contractors, to check statements on a monthly basis against records and prepare monthly invoices for payment.

Other key skills and requirements-

  • MUST have sage experience

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent communication

  • Ability to liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors

  • Deal with disputes regarding invoices and payments

  • Enter cheques into the system

  • Enter sub-contractor applications into Sage and certify for payments as appropriate

  • Reconcile business credit card statements for all holders

  • Check and file Good Received notes

  • Other general administrative duties- scanning, ordering stamps

  • Update project activity sheet on a monthly basis

  • Update monthly nominal report spreadsheet

  • Good knowledge of excel and other packages

  • Print and email remittance notes where appropriate
