Main Purpose of the Job


We are looking for an LGV driver to manage the movements/Collections of Customer product with a couple of trips over to Europe per month.


The role operates on a Monday to Friday per week (excluding bank holidays), 12-hour shifts (days), an average of 48.7 hours, inclusive of breaks, per week


Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Responsible to the Logistics Manager and the logistics Co-ordinator for the efficient operation of any of the heavy goods vehicles.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of any vehicles driven.

  • Report any defects on the vehicles driven to the Transport co-ordinator.

  • Operate the vehicle in the most fuel-efficient manner.

  • Ensure the vehicle driven is fuelled up to its capacity at the end of each shift.

  • Correctly hand over to the oncoming driver, highlighting any problems encountered with the vehicle.

  • To work in the best interest of the company in dealings with customers, suppliers, outside agencies and the general public.

  • Show due consideration to other road users.

  • Comply with driver's hours regulations.

  • Accurately complete and submit Daily Vehicle Defect sheet and submit to Transport Co-ordinator.

  • Correctly complete the daily management and weekly time sheet.

  • o carries out any other relevant duties assigned by the Transport Co-ordinator.



Other Essential Skills:



  • Competency in English and Maths.

  • Driver CPC

  • Qualified to drive heavy good vehicles (Class 1 HGV).

  • ADR trained, carriage of dangerous goods.

  • Hold a good clean driver's licence.

  • Experience in the operation of a Vacuum Tanker

  • Have good eyesight and colour vision and reasonable level of fitness to work with loads.

  • The ability to work alone and concentrate for long periods.

  • A Good understanding of health and safety, when loading and unloading vehicles


Desirable Skills:



  • Communication skill

  • Customers relations

  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word


Knowledge:



  • EU Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Requirements

  • Tanker operations
