A&P and Market P&L Analyst

My client, a large global FMCG organisation based in Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire is looking for a Market Analyst. Pay rate: £15.38 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for the A&P ledger circa £30 million, ensuring accurate processing of financial transactions and reconciliation.

  • Responsible for the day to day management of the advertising budget, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

  • Developing close relationships with the Marketing Team, business partnering the Team to maintain control over the budget and ensuring there is clarity over where funds have been invested, ROI and understanding any variances to plan.

  • Ensuring integrity of accounts by upholding internal controls, compliance with procurement is followed by Budget Holders and liaising with stakeholders, internal and external auditors and senior management.

  • Control environment/ corporate governance- ensure integrity of financial transactions on the ledger and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations. Maintain Blackline reconciliations. Monthly reporting on relevant balance sheet control accounts.

  • Liaise with other business units on intercompany transactions.

  • Prepare and ensure all necessary journals are posted monthly.

  • Arrange and attend meetings with budget holders to review performance, providing advice and guidance on financial accounting and management practices and advise on appropriate action.

  • Provide financial training to Budget Holders.

  • Agile approach on project teams to align process across European Business Units, acting as the key contact for A&P in the UK Petcare Division.

Education & Professional Qualification


  • Experience in co-piloting and/or budgets.

  • Helios and/or SAP knowledge.

  • A strong understanding of systems, specifically how ERP and similar systems function.

  • Strong numerical skills and a good attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge & understanding of key financial statements (P&L, B/sheet, etc)

  • Advanced Excel skills.


  • Project management experience, ideally relating to finance systems

  • Strong skills in stakeholder management

  • Experience of controls frameworks and assessment

  • Hands on accounting experience, including period end processes
