Adecco are currently recruiting for an Arboriculture and Woodlands Officer to work for a Local Authority in Sutton.

Sutton


Full time - 36 hours per week


Temporary role - 3 months minimum (possible extension)


£14.51 per hour PAYE or £18.78 per hour Umbrella


* Successful candidate MUST possess an Arboriculturlist Level 3 (minimum) qualification *


The Role



  1. To maintain the cyclical tree inspection and management programme for council owned trees.

  2. To inspect and record the condition of the trees and make decisions about the remedial works required. Write technical reports relating to all aspects of Arboriculture.

  3. To advise stakeholders, on all tree related matters affecting council owned trees.

  4. To promote partnerships and seek external funding to implement tree planting and woodlands schemes, engaging communities and promoting ownership


Specific Duties



  • To deal with telephone queries, enquiries through the Councils Customer Relationship Management system, letters, e-mails and on site meetings with members of the public officers, or representatives. To ensure that queries are investigated, that appropriate records are kept and replies are given to the public within agreed timescales.

  • To analyse technical reports from insurers and to investigate and provide reports to the Councils insurance section with regard to claims of tree damage to property. To offer advice to both the public and other officers regarding insurance claims within policy and to decide on appropriate works required to mitigate potential claims.

  • To conduct cyclical tree inspections and the diagnosis of pests and diseases. To inspect and report dangerous trees and to serve notices to the owners of dangerous trees. To arrange routine and urgent tree works arising from inspections as well as organising tree planting.

  • To use the Tree management IT package to keep an up-to-date inventory of all trees which are the Council's responsibility within the Borough and manage work from initial contact to completion of work.

  • To supervise and monitor contractors on a day to day basis. Ensuring all Arboricultural operations are carried out safely and completed to specification. In line with British standards and in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation.

  • Liaising with members of the public, councillors and other officers on suitable locations, for tree planting (including sponsored trees) and to ensure trees are planted in the correct location to the correct specification.

  • To work with other officers within the Arboricultural section to ensure that there is out of hours cover at all times including evenings and bank holidays.

  • To deputise for the Senior Arboricultural and Woodlands Officer as required and perform any other duties that may be required commensurate with the salary and grade
