Reporting to Head of Procurement, working alongside Senior Buyers, Assistant Buyers and Technical Buyer



Job Advert Description - Assistant Category Buyer



To be assist with the management and development of high volume and fast-moving product streams.



Category Strategy and key roles



  • To monitor and maintain stock levels on key items and ensure optimum stock balance is achieved so the business is lean but can achieve our customers needs.




  • Play a key role in the mitigation of any supplier price increases.




  • Raise orders in Sage and follow through from point of order to delivery.




  • Analysis spend data, identify areas of growth and lapsed sales items.




  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships with both new and existing suppliers.




  • Assist the department with the set up and management of supplier agreements with all key suppliers, whilst ensuring highest product quality and sales margins are achieved.




  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and create opportunities for new products or new customers to maximise growth and profit opportunities.




  • Understand key supply market drivers, market conditions and trends for their category areas.



  • Understand available internal and external data, complete spend analysis and provide insight.

  • Understand potential changes to the future requirements for their category areas.

  • Achieve Procurement savings and/or increase company revenue.

  • Pro actively review and monitor key suppliers in your portfolio, review compliance data, identify any supply risks and mitigate through robust supplier development.



  • Work with our compliance manager to ensure products and suppliers meet the correct quality standards
