Adecco are proud to be working with a well-established company who are seeking an Assistant VAT Manager to join their expanding team. 


Requirements: 



  • 3+ years' experience in an accounting environment, and knowledge of VAT

  • Experience supervising/ managing a team of more than 10 staff

  • A friendly and confident demeanour

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast paced, pressured environment

  • Understanding of the Making Tax Digital for VAT implementation and a general understanding of the Flat Rate VAT scheme

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Duties:



  • Overseeing the preparation of quarterly VAT Returns, signing off client VAT account reconciliations and resolving queries


  • Liaising with HMRC on client's behalf, raising weekly payment instructions to clients and/or HMRC



  • Motivating a team and monitoring performance, ensuring high standards and implementing corrective measures when needed



  • Evenly distributing workload amongst team, motivating them to ensure consistently high standards



  • Recommend measures to improve performance including people, process, and technology


  • Recruiting new employees and overseeing their training, ongoing mentoring



Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (negotiable)
Working days: Monday - Friday
Duration of contract: Permanent, full time
