Our client, a School based in Greenwich are currently looking for an Attendance Coordinator to provide administrative support to the sixth form team, primarily for monitoring and supporting with student attendance.



  • Location: Greenwich

  • Pay: £14.36 per hour

  • Type: Temporary, 8:30am-4pm

  • Duration: Until July 2020

  • Start date: ASAP

In this role your accountability's and responsibilities:



  • Monitor Sixth Form attendance

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, monitoring absences through established school systems and responding to attendance issues according to the Sixth Form policies and procedures.

  • Review student registers and ensure these are completed accurately and in a timely manner

  • Be responsible, daily, for regular communication with relevant members of the Sixth Form team, Line Manager, SLT and other teaching staff regarding attendance issues and individual patterns of attendance.

  • Communication with parents, both by telephone, email and in formal letters, regarding matters of student attendance. Ensuring that records are routinely kept up-to-date and concerns shared with relevant members of staff.

  • Act as main point of contact for students concerning attendance issues, registering late students, recording and reporting students who require permission to leave site and issuing late slips to lessons.

  • Review, on a regular basis, the systems in operation to record and monitor attendance, in order to make recommendations to further improved existing systems and overall levels of attendance.

  • Put in place, track and review student attendance agreements and attendance reports.

  • Maintain a system of recording student punctuality and informing parents where students arrive late.

  • Keep an accurate up-to-date record of detentions and punctuality reports

  • Maintain up-to-date student records on the schools database, including personal information and contact details.

  • Provide absence information in weekly attendance meetings with Head of Year and Attendance Manager.

  • Responsible for attendance administrative tasks which may include sending letters/reports in line with the attendance strategy.


Person Specification:



  • GCSE at A* - C in English and Mathematics or equivalent

  • Knowledge of SIMS (Schools Information Management System

  • Strong ICT skills, including use of spreadsheets, word and pupil databases

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

  • An understanding of child protection policies and procedures in schools

  • Attention to details and a good level of numeracy

  • Willingness and motivation to participate in any training or development required to improve skills / performance

  • Able to organise one's own work, to prioritise tasks and keep deadlines

  • Able to communicate and interact effectively with adults & children
