On behalf of ENCIRC, Adecco are recruiting for a Beverages Packaging Technologist to join the ever-growing, highly successful manufacturing plant in Elton, Chester.


This role represents a vital link between the Beverage manufacturing site and brand owners. The packaging technologist manages both small detail change for brands, and larger proof of concept material changes in plant process.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + Discretionary Bonus

Work Pattern: Mon-Thurs 8-5 Fri 8-2.30 Total Hours 38.75


Main Responsibilities



  • Taking responsibility of all packaging materials used in the beverages site

  • Design, execute, measure and report on tests and trials to prove that materials are fit for purpose in the beverage manufacturing process

  • Optimise existing material usage and assess alternatives

  • Ensure that all materials in direct contact with filled beverages comply with relevant food safety legislation

  • Optimisation of material design for beverage production processes

  • Offering technical support

  • Managing the artwork development process for all printed materials between brand owners, printer and beverage production

  • Tracking individual items through the process against required deadlines

  • Assessing design briefs and then ensuring that they are met

  • Optimisation of artwork for beverage production process

  • Support brand owners by providing concepts and mock-ups or proposed designs

  • Support brand owner sign off and press approval

Knowledge / Experience



  • Understand the importance of brand

  • Awareness of impact of materials in manufacturing process

  • Understanding of price points for materials and brand positioning


Essential Functional / Technical Skills



  • Science based background / qualification

  • Communication skills with brand owners and suppliers

  • Confident and able to control messaging on project progress and next actions

  • Listening to customer requirement, comprehending and translating to supplier requirements

  • Fact / evidence-based approach

  • Appreciation of statistics

  • Appreciation of the manufacturing and printing process of packaging materials

  • Scientific approach to trials and measurement of success

  • Highly organised

  • High focus and attention to detail

  • Competent IT use in standard software packages

  • Ability to develop ideas and concepts into reality

  • Ability to deliver to customer and production deadlines

  • Work independently with high volume of concurrent projects from multiple brand owners
