Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Building Service Engineer to support Cheshire Constabulary in maintaining and improving a large property portfolio across the county of Cheshire.


A key part of the estates department, you will be part of a team of BSEs who are responsible for the advising, sourcing, costing and facilitating of the maintenance to the building electrical, HVAC and fire safety assets.


This is a field based role, and you will be travelling to all Constabulary and Fire Rescue sites across the county, so a vehicle and driving licence is essential. All business mileage is reimbursed.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced building engineer, with relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications and knowledge. You must be a confident IT user in order to document the relevant compliance reports and specifications. Experience in Legionnaires Compliance is desirable but not essential.


Working hours are full time- 37 per week. In due course, you may also be asked to support an on-call rota, for which you would receive a bonus payment.


Offer is subject to a thorough police vetting check.


Role is a temporary contract, with review for extension at 6 months.



Key Duties


Responsibility for the cost effective, timely maintenance of engineering services to all Constabulary buildings.


Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative requirements.


Manage and monitor various contracts in relation to mechanical and electrical and plant equipment ensuring service levels, key performance indicators are achieved and improvements are progressed.


Manage the installation of building systems and specification of necessary maintenance and operating procedures.


Provide advice and guidance to the Constabulary's Environment officer in relation to energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.


Work with the Constabulary Health & Safety services to demonstrate compliance with all aspects of health and safety management in accordance with corporate policy and legislative requirements.


Manage the safety of work carried out by staff/contractors in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act


Advise the Estates Manager of any remedial works identified by commissioned statutory surveys/reports.


Contribute to the compilation of five year maintenance programmes based on capital/Revenue bids, condition survey findings, assessment of plant and equipment, medial works and carbon management plans.


Monitor service providers, ensuring standards are maintained and are provided within budget.


Liaise with the Facilities Management Team to assess the impact of Estates management work on their services, working together to deliver continuous service improvement.
