Business Manager to Cheif Executive


Our client, a financial services company are looking to recruit a Business Manager to support the Chief Executive and the Executive Team in leading and managing the organisation by proactively designing and carrying forward corporate initiatives, organising the work programme of the Executive Team, providing direct policy, business management and administrative support to the Chief Executive in the running of the company.

Job Description



  • To act as a contact point on Operational issues in the Chief Executive's absence for external stakeholders.

  • To help the new Chief Executive successfully onboard and transition into a fully competent and effective Chief Executive during the first crucial 6-12 months.

  • To be the Chief Executive's contact point, where needed, for the Chairman and other non-executive directors.

  • Where requested, to attend meetings internally on the Chief Executive's behalf and to report back.

  • Working closely with the Chief Executive's Executive Assistant, to ensure that the Chief Executive's diary is appropriately managed, that they have all relevant papers for meetings, and are properly briefed.

  • Working closely with the Chief Executive's Executive Assistant to manage email correspondence to ensure appropriate filtering, response and priority judgement.

  • Maintain control with customer complaints team of complaint and MP correspondence, ensuring responses are issued in a timely manner.

  • Assist the Chief Executive by ensuring that large claims, approvals, expenses etc provided for sign-off are correctly presented and prepared for sign-off.

  • Ensure that Compensation Overpayments and Sign-Off Authority requests are correctly prepared for review by the Chief Executive.

  • Working closely with the Chief Executive's Executive Assistant, to liaise closely with the Executive Team to make sure that the right people know about and are ready for the Executive Team meetings with, and presentations to, external stakeholders.

  • To work closely with the Executive Team to ensure Executive Team agendas are appropriately balanced and manageable and any relevant papers are circulated sufficiently in advance to allow for informed discussion.

  • To ensure that Executive Team decisions are accurately recorded and that actions are followed through by appropriate managers.

  • To work closely with Executive Team to make sure that key internal messages, decision and actions are recorded and communicated from the meetings as appropriate.

  • To help manage, prepare and co-ordinate papers, briefings and draft responses where appropriate.


Skills/Experience

  • The ability to manage a diverse workload, balancing priorities and liaising with colleagues to meet deadlines.

  • Quick thinker with the ability to take forward work on own initiative.

  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.

  • Good drafting skills, including the ability to assimilate and summarise material and to draft high quality notes of meetings, letters and corporate communications.

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with proven ability to deal with staff and stakeholders at all levels in a calm and confident manner, even under pressure.
