An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Buyer within a highly succesful manufacturing organisation in Ayrshire. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading and managing key suppliers for the achievement of on time delivery of quality product and services on time and in full to support the Business Unit.


The Buyer will provide key point of contact and supplier relationship management for key suppliers. You will lead and manage supplier management best practice relationships and implement these both internally and externally for the company. You will provide support and guidance to the business unit ensuring on time delivery of materials, services and overhead.


Key Accountabilities & Duties:



  • Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.

  • Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.

  • Adhere and implement Supply Chain Policy governance and Operations Framework.

  • Management across multiple commodities and spend over Direct and Indirect spend.

  • Develop Business wide Procurement advisory service capture spend and savings opportunities, ensure cost and due diligence compliance in accordance to current policy and within AVL

  • Day to Day Supplier Management ensuring adherence to policies and financial authorisations.

  • Managing Quality Assurance including qualification, HSSE, BACM and Financial Stability reviews.

  • QBRs - Effective Performance reviews to be undertaken identifying Key Critical suppliers Technical risk, Volume and Spend

  • Ensuring all commitments are in line with inventory demand ensuring schedule adherence to business plan at all times.

  • CAM / PPV - Identify and capture all cost benefit opportunities, savings cost avoidance to targets.

  • Establish Scope of Supply / Framework agreements leveraging cost benefit. Ensuring T&Cs are in line with organisational legal requirement and financial delegated authority.

  • Establish technical innovation agreements and Ecommerce opportunities in collaboration with Suppliers.

  • Drive Continuous improvement on Procurement process in line with BMS and ERP Systems

  • Dashboard Performance - Support and Develop KPI on primary aspects of Schedule Adherence, Quality, spend forecast and CAM/PPV Targets.

  • Point of contact for Key Supplier escalation for Supply Chain and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications/Experience:



  • Experience in Engineering / Production Procurement environment.

  • Experience of managing change

  • Experience of Total Cost Management

  • Conflict resolution

  • Interpersonal Customer Relationship management skills

  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Qualified
