Adecco are looking for an experienced buyer to join our public sector client based in Newcastle. This is a temporary role for 3 months initially. Working 22 hours across three days. Hourly rate of pay from £11.76ph. Applicants must have buying/ purchasing experience. This role will involve working closely and supporting the contracts manager. Duties include the following-

  • Handling requisitions, monitoring contracts and supplier performance to develop cost effective routes

  • To undertake purchasing activity, to ensure timescales are met and report to the Contract Manager any problems in achieving deadlines.

  • Contribute to the development of an excellent customer service ethic

  • To participate and where appropriate lead meetings relating to contracts

  • To undertake specific projects, including pre and post tender discussions with both customers and suppliers supported by the Contracts Manager

  • To ensure full compliance with all current and relevant legislation, financial instructions and departmental policies and procedures on Procurement's and general management issues including Health & Safety, Employment Policies and Corporate Governance.

  • To provide reports to management at agreed intervals and as required to internal and external customers.

  • To understand and comply with the aims and objectives of the department.
