JOB TITLE: Cabinet Support Officer
LOCATION: Client based in Ealing, with some remote working

PAY RATE: £24.97 hourly paye
DURATION/Hours: 3 month initial contract/ 35 hours a week
IR35 STATUS: Inside

Purpose of the role:

  • To provide effective policy and administrative support to Cabinet members to enable them to effectively deliver on their portfolio briefs and priorities.

  • Each Cabinet Support Officer will typically provide support to three Cabinet members as well as working as part of a team to support the cabinet collectively

Key accountabilities:

  • Providing flexible administrative and policy support to the Cabinet in order to deliver Ealing's priorities and support effective decision-making and engagement with citizens and stakeholders

  • Using a high level of judgement to apply knowledge in ensuring that appropriate and relevant policy issues are highlighted in a timely manner to Cabinet Members and the Cabinet Office.

  • Build relationships with the organisation and proactively work with service departments and others to request information, commission briefings and follow through to ensure actions are delivered.

  • Ensuring careful forward planning so that Cabinet Members can effectively perform their duties. Including collating papers for meetings and summarising key information into briefing notes.

  • Support effective operation of Cabinet Members' meetings including agenda planning, distribution of papers and minute taking and action logging

  • Provide effective support in the management of correspondence, including inbox management, acting on emails as necessary and, using a high level of judgement, deciding on appropriate actions

Knowledge and experience:

  • Good knowledge of local government structures and functions

  • Ability to understand and summarise information from service and policy briefings and reports

  • Ability to write clearly and concisely for a range of audiences including residents

  • Experience providing administrative support - diary, agenda, email and correspondence management support to senior stakeholders in a comparable environment

  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) to manage and present information.
