Cabinet Support Officer

3 months (possible extension)

£24.97 PH PAYE

Looking at a degree of flexibility re working from home/working from office mix, with probably a minimum of two days per week in the office, depending on cabinet member requirements.

* Experience or understanding of working in local government or similar environments
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to critically analyse, summarise and discuss policy reports and briefings
* Ability to build strong working relationships with senior politicians and officers based on trust and shared objectives
* Ability to prioritise and manage a heavy and sometimes complex workload, across a wide range of issues and portfolio areas.

This exciting role will be part of a new team operating at the heart of the clients decision making, supporting the cabinet to work effectively with officers and partners to deliver their vision for the borough. The role will provide administrative and policy assistance to cabinet members, including ensuring effective briefing on delivery of manifesto priorities, liaison with the communications team and executive support.

You will also work closely with services at both senior and administrative levels and with policy and communications colleagues. You will engage with external stakeholders on behalf of Cabinet members and also to residents so strong communication skills are essential.
Be comfortable with working to short deadlines in a fast-moving team. You will be comfortable providing administrative support but also be able to support Cabinet members by understanding their priorities and assisting them to manage their portfolios - for example by summarising policy reports and briefings
