CAD Technician


Our client a leading college are currently recruiting for a CAD Technician to develop, manage and maintain compliance technical information such as drawings relating to building management and fire safety including electrical systems, fire compartmentation, fire alarm system schematics.



  • Location: City of London

  • Pay: £38,304-£42,000 per annum

  • Start date: ASAP

  • Type: Permanent

  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday


Responsibilities:



  • Provide overall governance for technical building drawings for the Directorate of Estates & Facilities

  • Develop layered CAD drawings for fire plans, Asbestos, electrical and mechanical services and assets

  • Undertake an audit of all current safety and compliance

  • Develop a technical library and provide ongoing management for drawings and plans stemming from compliance

  • Utilise a range of software-based systems to create 3D technical drawings

  • Work directly with Associate Director - Assurance and Risk to develop the foundation for BIM within the University

  • Manage the agreed storage database for technical drawings and plans for easy retrieval in the event that inspections are undertaken by enforcement or local authorities

  • Issue technical information to other areas of the core business

  • Act as a gatekeeper for technical information updates stemming from projects or maintenance works

  • Provide support to the Operational Assurance Services in relation to operational activities

  • To convert un-editable data such as PDF, JPG etc. into AutoCAD


Requirements:



  • Holder of an industry recognised qualification relating to CAD design

  • City & Guilds Level 3 in 3D CAD (7579-03) or equivalent

  • Have comprehensive knowledge and experience of Autodesk AutoCAD software including the use of blocks and attributes

  • Appropriate knowledge in the development of technical drawings relating to building construction and services layout

  • An understanding of engineering drawing and principles

  • Experience in creating technical drawings for systems and design including fire alarms, building partitions and lay out, ventilation systems etc.

  • Have previously experience of using 3D modelling on projects

  • Experience in developing procedural documentation

  • Experience in working with CAFM systems
