Working for a Local Authority within Wandsworth

Temporary position minimum 3 months

£21 P/H PAYE


The post holder will have knowledge of working across the health and/or social care sector, knowledge of infection control procedures (or proven ability to gain this knowledge rapidly) and the ability to interpret and implement government guidance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive overview of care homes in Richmond and Wandsworth in relation to their COVID-19 status e.g. prevention, testing and management of outbreaks

  • Ensure that testing kits are delivered to and collected from care homes on time (as per latest guidelines` time lines) and escalate the delays to the Director of Public Health and multi-agency commissioning team (CCG, LA, PH)

  • Monitor the efficiency of the testing process for care homes across Richmond and Wandsworth and develop regular reports

  • Establish good working relationships with the Department of Health and Social Care and London Corona virus Response Cell to enable a speedy response to care homes across the two boroughs

  • To be a single point of contact for Infection Prevention and Control liaising with care homes to collect live information and troubleshoot queries as required.

  • To develop and maintain databases to record care home progress across Infection Prevention and Control programmes

  • Identify care homes that are falling behind on testing implementation and support homes to recover an expected minimum performance threshold

  • Monitor Capacity Tracker on a daily basis (including outbreak monitoring section where appropriate) and contact care homes if lack of PPE, staffing or infection control issues are flagged ensuring issues are escalated through appropriate channels.

  • Work with a multi-agency team of care home commissioners, escalating concerns to commissioners where appropriate

  • Liaise with colleagues across the local health and social care economy (e.g. adult social care, CCG, community provider, SW London STP) to ensure collaborative and coordinated approach to supporting care homes

  • Understanding existing and new Government guidance on infection control and ensure implementation locally e.g. PHE guidance, supporting roll out of IPC training and Whole Care Home Testing Programme and Test Track and Trace.

  • Providing regular summary briefings to the Strategic Care Home Overview Group reporting on key infection prevention and control metrics.

  • The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, be able to manage a challenging and varied workload and effectively contribute to a dynamic and well-functioning Adult Social Care Commissioning Team.

  • To carry out such other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be required.
