We are recruiting on behalf of the Home Office for temporary Caseworkers to assessing and considering applications for Asylum support. You will receive full training however you need to be able to make well-judged decisions on eligibility and consider ongoing support against a range of criteria.

The role will involve contact applicants and external stakeholders so you must be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills as well as being able to provide emotional resilience and understanding need so of vulnerable applicants.

Overall duties

· Working in a fast-paced department working to tight deadlines.

· Meeting demanding performance targets within a tightly controlled quality framework.

· Assess applications for asylum support against well-defined criteria set out in legislation

· Review ongoing support to ensure that support is only available to those who remain eligible

· Provide clear reasoning to the applicant in defence of any negative decisions regarding their support

· Develop knowledge of legislation and policy and escalate complicated issues

· Update management systems accurately and within the agreed timeframes


· Relevant training around asylum support will be provided.

· Used to working to strict guideline and policies and in a process Driven fast paced environment

· Eye for Detail

Security ClearanceDue to the nature of the work  you will require security clearance , the role will only start after clearance is received however the role will potentially be for 6 months plus

  • Resided in the UK for the last 3 years 

  • Have a *current* British Passport or settlement status due to the sensitive nature of the work 

  • NI Number  

  • 2 x proof of addresses (all in UK) 

  • 5 years full history with no gaps of more than 1 month 

  • 3 years solid reference with no gaps of more than 1 month
