Category Buyer / Procurement Specialist - Public Sector

The principal responsibility of the role is to provide expert support within an identified key category area of the work of the South West Police Procurement Department (SWPPD), leading on individual procurement's to deliver the particular key category's strategies.

Key requirements:

  • Proven financial / commercial awareness, ideally within a procurement environment

  • Demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills

  • Demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret data

  • Proven planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative, often in isolation

  • Demonstrable IT skills

Applicants will ideally hold CIPS (level 3) or be willing to undertake the CIPS qualification, ideally having gained procurement experience within public sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join an employer of choice, the role could be based at either D&C Police HQ in Exeter, or at Dorset HQ in Winfrith.
