My client is recruiting for a Catering Support Worker to assist in providing a comprehensive catering service at their Hospital in Lancaster, to Patients Staff and Visitors.



MAIN DUTIES:


Provide a counter service to staff, patients and visitors that is customer focused in Trust restaurants and cafes with responsibility for Cash handling and Card payments at authorised pay points.


Follow food safety legislation and complete all relevant Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points documentation.


Be responsible for replenishing counter and food service areas, rotating in accordance with Use by and Best before dates ensuring stock is fresh and appetising.


To be responsible for stock control and replenishing items for vending machines across the site ensuring all vending machines clean and in good order, reporting any faults immediately to line manager.


To be responsible for the 24hr patient snack and discharge bag fridge daily ensuring products have 2 days shelf life on fresh products.


Clean and refill hot drinks machines ensuring correct food products, cleaning products and cleaning cycles are used.


Use electronic tablets in the catering department to view patient menus to ensure the trolleys are loaded with the correct cold food for each patient's dietary requirements.


Use of electronic tablets at ward level to view each individual patient menu enabling the delivery of the correct meal to the correct patient ready for the post holder to give to the nurse on the ward at meal time.


Record on electronic tablet each wards waste food for analysis by management.


Prepare and label sandwiches, salads, vegetables, fruit salad, paninis in designated controlled chilled based environment, labelling is computer based.


Prepare patient meal trolleys for service, ensure trolleys are switched on, set up with appropriate, cutlery, crockery and serving utensils.


Prepare trolleys for functions and hot buffets.


Ensure all food loaded in trolleys is at the correct temperature before service to patients


Assist the driver with deliveries of food using the catering vehicle across site and occasionally externally.


Serve specialist diets for patients prepared and labelled by chefs, responding to any questions the patients may have.


Participate in service delivery at various functions both internally and at external venues. Deliver and distribute provisions to wards from catering department as required.


To be responsible for unloading and cleaning of ward trolleys.


Record untouched ward meal wastage on the designated recording sheet on a daily basis, segregating waste into correct waste streams for recycling.


To be responsible for the regular loading and unloading of the central dishwash / panwash machine(s).


Responsible for regular floor cleaning using heavy mechanical floor scrubbing machines, cleaning to a required standard as outlined in cleaning schedules, signing record sheet when completed.


Regular use of various hot or heavy kitchen equipment including but not limited to meat slicer, waste disposal, sandwich sealer, deep fat fryer, hot plates, jacket potato machine, coffee machines, sandwich toasters.


Responsible for reporting any mechanical or building defects immediately to Supervisor/Line Manager.


Hours of work are 8am to 4pm and you will be required to work 5 days out of 7 on a rota including some weekends.


Referencing and a DBS will need to be done prior to starting with us.
