An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Surveyor on behalf of a local authority based in East London.

The role will provide expert advice and guidance on the physical condition of property (residential and commercial), accurately calculating value and providing advice and recommendations on appropriate courses of action, particularly in relation to the sale and acquisition of assets.

The successful applicant will be RICS accredited and have previous experience working as a Chartered Surveyor. A good understanding of sales and lettings of both commercial and residential property is essential.

Key duties will include:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for negotiating lease extensions, rent reviews/renewals and other leasehold matters in relation to the asset communicating this routinely and coherently to a range of levels and stakeholders

  • Negotiate the best deal with third parties in property transactions, whether negotiating sale prices, rental levels or other matters

  • Provide and deliver on a day to day basis a range of surveying activities

  • Provide a range of valuation surveying services including the estate management of the organisation's property portfolio, asset valuations, rating and insurance valuations

  • Understand and keep up to date with developments regarding surveying requirements, particularly where these are specifically aimed at registered social landlords, ensuring that services are current and relevant

  • Carry out visits to properties as well as office desk work surveying activity, both on an adhoc basis and a pat of ongoing casework

  • Draw upon a range of sector, asset and financial information to provide timely, coherent and authoritative advice on property valuation, insurance and lease negotiation matters

  • Act as the expert on valuation and lease negotiation
