An opportunity has arisen for a Chef to join a Public Sector Organisation based in East London.


The role is to assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals for meals to the service users of Sheltered Housing.


Relevant qualification in Food Handling and Health and Hygiene are required as well as experience working in a busy kitchen and planning Menu's. Experience of working within a school or sheltered housing environments are preferred.


Main duties:



  1. Prepare, cook, and serve food under the direction of the manager, including the following duties.

  2. To carry out skilled cooking activities connected with a range of food. To provide special dietary meals, including vegetarian dishes and ethnic meals.

  3. To assist in menu planning

  4. To exercise portion control

  5. To maintain the highest levels of hygiene

  6. To maintain Health and Safety in the kitchen and related areas. To ensure the Health and Safety of staff and clients by complying with relevant legislation and guidance issued on safe working practices.

  7. To place orders for provisions and supplies

  8. To check deliveries

  9. To supervise other kitchen staff when necessary

  10. To be always smart and presentable with the current dress code. To wear protective or corporate clothing where this is provided.

  11. To always maintain a courteous, helpful, and polite response to members of the public and to ensure that individual needs are recognised and supported.

  12. To respond effectively and sympathetically to any complaints made about the provisions of services in accordance with the appropriate Council complaints procedure.

  13. To participate fully in the organisations employee communication system

  14. Any other duties appropriate to this work and consistent with the level of the post, as may from time to time to be required.

  15. To attend and participate in team meetings

  16. To work toward accreditation's as an Investors in people.
