Our client within public sector is looking for an Insurance Claims Handler to join their Legal team based in Lewes, East Sussex. The role is offered on a contract basis for 3 months, working 37 hours per week, Mon to Friday paying up to £11.25/hour PAYE.

The Claims Handler will be responsible to take on caseload independently, dealing with a variety of civil claims (up to 150 outstanding claims approx..) pursued against the Local Authority. They will support and assist fee earners in the preparation and conduct of a full range of routine and complex case work and to provide support in relation to the provision of legal advice.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience of handling civil claims and ideally worked within a local authority

  • Working knowledge of civil claims arising under the Highways Act 1980 and the Occupiers Liability Act 1957.

  • Experience of conducting own caseload

  • Hardworking and enthusiastic person who has an ability to interrogate information and form a decision with a legal frame work.

  • IT literate and can easily navigate new databases and systems.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people and organisations both orally and in writing

  • Ability to travel both within and outside the County as required.
