We are looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative commercially minded professional to join our client's busy team. Duration: 6 months temporary position (opportunity for a permanent opportunity)
Location: Hybrid - must have access to London or York office once a week
Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hour week
Starting: ASAP
Pay: £50,000-£65,000

We are looking for someone to play a key role in delivering the Commercial Improvement Projects, whilst ensuring that the Commercial team continues to deliver its core objectives to the business. Main responsibility and duties:

  • Lead on the development of Category Management including the development and maintenance of Category Strategies, Plans and Pipelines

  • Act as the Commercial lead for complex tender exercises within the Technology Category. Managing the end-to-end process, supporting the business with the development of complex specifications, including consideration of confidential and personal data, preparation of tender questions and leading the tender evaluation process.

  • Proactively seek out key market information from a variety of external sources including liaising/discussing with suppliers, using this intelligence to advise and support senior managers in developing Category Strategy.

  • Monitor Category spend Information to identify opportunities to achieve greater value for money and efficiencies

  • Analyse and present key category management data and communicate to relevant stakeholders across the business at all levels. Develop the analysis to support recommendation and strategic discussions with key stakeholders within the Category.

  • Champion a continuous improvement culture across the team, through identifying, understanding and leading the implementation of incremental improvement initiatives.

  • Support the ongoing Commercial Improvement Projects, including taking the lead on key improvement projects.

  • Understand the principles of Contract Management (CM), supporting the rollout and embedding of strong CM processes within your Category.

  • Support the key Contract Managers across the Agency with Supplier Review Meetings and commercial risk management for critical contracts.

  • Support the development of Business Cases, challenging them from a Value for Money perspective. Provide a clear, compliant route to market.

What we're looking for

  • Proven background of category management principles and processes.

  • Experience managing a pipeline of expenditure.

  • MCIPS or studying towards MCIPS would be highly desirable.

  • Experience implementing procurement processes and policies in managing complex tendering exercises.

  • Excellent communication skills with strong experience developing stakeholder relationships, and engaging in challenging but meaningful conversations.

  • Awareness and application of Government Commercial and Procurement policies and procedures would be beneficial.
