Salary - £45,000 - £55,000 (dependant on experience)

Adecco Cheltenham is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client, an award winning and innovative Engineering business in Gloucestershire. They are looking for a Commercial Manager to join their Projects Team at their Head Office in Gloucester.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for the commercial review of new contracts and the management of commercial reporting between the Project Management team and the Finance department. Success in this role will derive from supporting the Project Managers in the commercial management of projects to include; managing cost, value, variations, forecasting and improving processes and procedures.

Key Duties:

  • Leading commercial meetings with Project Managers on a monthly basis.

  • Reporting of project statuses to the Finance department on a monthly basis.

  • Reviewing the T&Cs for new contracts, negotiating with customers when necessary.

  • Assisting the Project Managers with commercial review preparation as required, focusing on value and costs.

  • Reviewing and developing the forecasting tools for Project Managers, aligning the processes and improving best practice to include reporting and tracking across projects.

  • Tracking invoices with Project Managers to ensure invoicing is up to date. Supporting where necessary with more complex invoices, recognising milestones and targets.

  • Producing formal documentation where required for issue by the Projects team (including agreed rates, appreciation of associated costs, flexibility of quotations/variations to achieve the end goal).

  • Providing support in claim production to ensure claims are evidenced and logical.

  • Supporting with yearly audits.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Proven Commercial Management experience is essential. This will ideal come from a Civil Engineering or utilities background, but our client will also consider wider construction contracting (for example contaminated land).

  • Demonstrable experience working with projects at a larger scale, and working with several projects with differing timescales at the same time (rather than working on one project at a time).

  • Experience of commercial involvement in a whole project life-cycle (pre and post contract award).

  • You'll be able to bring commercial acumen to the role without disrupting the flow of the project or alienating your colleagues and clients. The biggest challenge to this role will be

  • You'll have a flexible yet pragmatic nature in implementing changes from contract negotiations, variations and recovery.

  • You will have a professional and engaging manner with a flexible and collaborative working style.

  • Ambitious and can-do outlook.

In return our client will provide:

  • A competitive salary up to £55,000 (Dependant on experience).
