We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial/Domestic Property Claims Handler to join a successful specialist Claims Management organisation based in Dagenham. As finalists in the British Claims Awards 2020, you will be joining a forward thinking innovative company who put the policy holders at the forefront of what they do!



You will be engaged by members of the public to assist them in presenting, formulating and negotiating an insurance claim on their behalf. You will be the point of contact for a policyholder and will liaise with the insurance company and all other involved parties including brokers, surveyors, contractors, solicitors, loss adjusters etc. This means that every aspect of a claim will be managed by you, from putting in the initial claim, to when the insured moves back into their property.



Responsibilities




  • Attend the site of a loss to survey and assess the damage;

  • Interview the policyholder making the claim to discuss their policy

  • Gather and check through evidence, for example CCTV footage;

  • Request reports from specialist third parties, such as building surveyors;

  • Organise any salvage work, building repairs or clean-up operations that need to take place;

  • Ensure that the loss or damage is covered sufficiently by the terms of the policyholder's insurance policy;

  • Liaise with insurance loss adjusters and insurers to reach an equitable settlement;

  • Write full and detailed reports for insurers, including recommendations for settlement;

  • Negotiate and resolve disputed claims;

  • Help businesses to quantify the loss of income while the premises are closed for repair;



What to expect



  • You'll spend your time between the office and on-site handling claims. This can either be in people's homes or in commercial premises. Depending on the complexity of the claim, you might carry out several inspections a day or spend several days on one case.

  • You may need to wear protective clothing, particularly if you're drafted in following incidents such as fires, Water Damage, Impact damage and major flooding.

  • You will be expected to cover the entire U.K.

  • You'll need to be flexible in location and able to travel.



Qualifications



We welcome CVs from candidate's with a minimum Cert CII or Cert CILA (or relevant insurance experience within property claims). In addition to this or separately a degree or HND in building or construction, surveying, engineering, risk management, law or finance may be useful.
