An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications and Campaigns Officer to join a public sector organisation based in East London. The role is working from home.

The role will be to support on Covid related communication and supporting with public health communication messages. The role will also support to develop and deliver effective digital and print media relations plans.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of communications work, ideally within a political or local government environment. The successful candidate will also have experience of planning and running successful campaigns.

Key duties will include:

  • To plan, implement, monitor and evaluate campaigns for the organisation, including behavioural campaigns, corporate marketing, partnership and public affairs campaigns

  • To implement integrate campaign plans that inform, change behaviour, engage and improve perceptions of the organisation

  • To provide an effective media crisis service for the organisation, liaising with journalists to ensure their information is accurate

  • To provide a calm and measured response to media enquiries, understanding where to escalate to ensure resolution

  • To advise senior officers and strategic directors on all issues relating to the media, both in digital and print

  • To prepare well written and accurate media materials including press releases, media invites, reactive statements, photo opportunities and internal briefings

  • To develop and maintain positive working relationships with journalists in the national, regional and local media

  • To collaborate with partner organisations on media strategies and joint media coverage

  • Research and write copy for advertisements, briefings, marketing materials, publications, website and social media

  • Identify and maximise opportunities for imaginative campaigns and events with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Manage and coordinate a range of internal and external events which form part of communication plans, ensuring that all campaigns and events are well planned
