Conveyancing Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am- 5pm

Location- Central Chelmsford

Term- Permanent

Salary - £20000 - £35000( depending on experience)

Adecco are excited to be in partnership with a very exciting and successful client located in Central Chelmsford.

You will be responsible for general administrative duties, client care and the legal process as directed by your Fee Earner You will need to meet set deadlines and complete your work through confidence and ability in time management, organisation, and prioritising. Strong communication skills are key across all channels with Developers, Solicitors, Lenders, Clients and Colleagues as part of daily operations, ensuring the company values and culture is supported.

Essential: 1-year minimum experience


  • Sending initial letters, documentation and introductory emails to clients

  • Managing email traffic and phone calls daily and also covering additional emails and calls during colleagues' absence

  • Maintain effective communication with the client via phone and email throughout the transaction to ensure they are kept up to date with their transaction

  • Build rapport with site staff, Solicitors, Brokers and Estate Agents to ensure Company reputation is maintained

  • Carrying out all electronic ID checks for all persons related to the case

  • Carry out OS2 and Bankruptcy searches and ensuring these remain in date

  • Collating, sending and checking supporting documents

  • Requesting searches and management packs as required

  • Read and send search results to client

  • Receiving and checking of mortgage instructions from lenders and undertaking specific tasks required

  • Deal with Newbuild, Residential and Shared Ownership transactions with guidance from your Fee Earner

  • Assisting with related Sale files

  • Preparing Transfers and Mortgage deeds

  • Regular communication with the Accounts department to ensure the receiving of mortgage and client funds prior to completion

  • Check external portals for updates/ actions e.g., Help to Buy, LMS, Lender Exchange

  • Ensure the case management system is worked on in real time and updated continuously

  • Support in exchanging contracts and completions of the transaction
