You will have the confidence to take ownership, using your knowledge and experience to ensure that every single customer experience an excellent service.

Your Responsibilities

  • Receive, processes and respond to direct debit payment applications, change and queries from customers (businesses or direct customers) through either telephone or e-mail correspondence, inbound and outbound required.

  • Monitoring and placing direct debit mandates. Setting up payment plans, cancelling and setting up new direct debits.

  • Ensuring credit notes and adjustment invoices are prepared accurately and dispatched in a timely manner

  • Maintaining credit control records ensuring contact records are accurate and up to date at all times.

  • Checking and issuing customer statements.

  • Investigate, resolve and process customer enquiries to deliver customer value at first point of contact.

  • Effectively diagnose, investigate, and resolve routine customer queries or complaints to ensure delivery of an efficient and effective service to the customer. Escalate any queries or complaints to the relevant team to ensure they are handled and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Identify and understand customer needs to provide a consistently high-quality service to enhance the customer experience and increase their retention

  • Contribute to deliver objectives to agreed business targets (including cash collection, Direct Debit registration and changes, customer satisfaction, complaints, and compliance). Working to KPIs to ensure that all agreed objectives are met, predominantly around call and cash collection targets

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Previous experience in a Credit Control, Collections, Debt Recovery focused role.

  • Extensive experience in a customer facing role and target driven environment as well as excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Strong customer service experience

  • Outstanding telephone manner with the ability to influence others

  • Fantastic communication skills - written, verbal, reporting and presenting

  • Excellent time management, planning, organisational and delegation skills

  • A genuine passion for delivering Service Excellence; focused on delivering internal and external customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrate positivity and enthusiasm about new and/or challenging tasks

  • Adaptable to change and flexible in acquiring new skills, to meet customer demand for new channels (e.g. digital), products and services

  • Demonstrate experience in identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Computer literate to operate customer related information systems

  • Ability to work as part of a team, sharing best practice, knowledge, resource, and ideas

  • Institute of Credit Management qualification would be a fantastic support for the successful candidate

Further Information

  • 4 - 5 month contract

  • Monday to Friday 9-5pm

  • Part time of FT roles going
