Customer Care Officer

Location: Central London

Salary: £14.50

Contract type: Temporary

Adecco are currently recruiting for a full time Customer Care Officer within the higher education sector. This role is currently for 2 weeks however has the high potential of being extended. You must have own safety boots for this position.

The role of the Customer Care officer is to provide a cost-effective facilities & building-related support service are a designated site or group of buildings, as part of a well organised, effective and co-ordinated team of internal and external support staff.

You will be required to assist the Customer Care Supervisor in dealing with a range of responsibilities on a daily basis, and to be able to monitor and action regular and routine activities, dealing effectively with ant student, visitor and external contractors in an appropriate customer-focused manner.

Job Summary

To carry out tasks in the following areas, under the direction of the Customer Care Supervisor, directly or as part of a team:

  • Post, Courier Service & Goods Inwards

  • Removals, Furniture

  • Driving (Fork lift truck driving*)

  • Reception & Information duties (Post room and 'Goods Inwards')

  • Health and Safety Reporting

  • Other related duties & responsibilities, as instructed

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Post, Courier Service & Goods Inwards

  1. To receive deliveries from the Post Office, couriers, delivery companies, external suppliers & personal callers and to sort for onward internal distribution

  2. Follow goods inwards procedure to record all incoming goods plus all registered, recorded, Data post, or otherwise receipt able mail in order to provide an audit trail for each of them.

  3. To sort outgoing mail according to the class of postage, destination and any special services required.

  4. To weigh and frank all outgoing mail that is for collection by the Post Office

  5. To deliver Data post and courier management service to the University in accordance with agreed policies & procedures.

  6. To operate all post room equipment including franking, fax, personal computers; ability to use University electronic databases & directories to identify staff & students' addresses as necessary.

  7. To answer enquires from staff, students, visitors, external service providers & suppliers - whether by telephone, email, fax or in person; and to respond in an efficient and helpful manner, keeping the Deputy Facilities Manager informed of any significant customer-care issues.

  8. To deliver & collect internal & external post and small packages to/from an agreed set of specific locations on the Southwark campus and other locations operated by LSBU. In accordance with university procedures

Removals & Furniture

  1. To undertake directly the careful moving of furniture relating to teaching, administrative and other activities of the University. This will involve setting out & clearing rooms, the movement of furniture to/from storage facilities and/or removal to a collection point for disposal.

  2. To carry out all duties in accordance with health and safety procedures.

  3. To carry out audits of furniture numbers & condition in both operation areas & stores in all university locations.
