Adecco are currently recruiting for a Communications Operator (Triage Team) for Cheshire Constabulary, to be based at the Headquarters in Winsford.



As a Communication Operative, you will the first point of contact for non-emergency communications into the police force. You will be assisting the public with their communications via phone, email, social media and other online resources.



This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to serve the public in a non-officer, uniformed role.



The purpose of the role is to receive, assess, and where possible resolve, non-emergency telephone calls by obtaining all necessary information, giving advice and providing information when appropriate.



Duties will include:



  • Identify any calls for service that are emergencies and require an urgent response by assessment of threat, harm and risk and feed through to internal emergency line for prompt action.


� Create accurate and detailed contact records/incidents on Constabulary's Command and Control Incident Management System


� Interrogate force systems to identify previously reported occurrences to enable an informed decision as to advice to give to the caller and action to be taken


� Monitor and engage appropriately with the public on Force Control Centre Social Media accounts



  • Utilise Cheshire Police systems and databases to fully and accurately update incidents with relevant information as required

  • Provide information on incident status to authorised staff, departments and other authorised partner agencies or services


� Liaise with internal departments, outside agencies and services providers as appropriate to carry out all relevant enquiries to support operational policing and identify deployment needs and successfully address calls for service



Full training for this role is given, but applicants must be able to demonstrate to a high standard:


� Excellent communications skills


� Ability to take control in an emergency situation, and make quick and meaningful decisions as to the next steps


� Good IT skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to systems quickly and confidently


� Experience in utilising social media accounts for communication, ideally in a professional capacity


� Commitment to high standards and professional integrity




This a full-time role which will require working on a 3 weekly shift pattern that will include some weekends. Shift times cover between 0800-2200.



The pay rate for this role is £11.34 per hour for shift working, and a time and half rate for working weekends.



Post is on an ongoing temporary basis, initially for 6 months.
