Deputy Scheme Manager (Residential Live In Position)


Salary: £28,000 Plus your own 2-bedroom, self-contained flat, bills included


Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm but you must be flexible as may include extra hours and some Saturday working


Location: Sydenham


We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Scheme Manager (Residential Live In Position) on behalf of our client, a high end 50-unit, sheltered accommodation site based in the heart of Sydenham, South London. The Deputy Scheme Manager will have good IT and communication skills, to work with our Resident Scheme Manager and act in the delivery of day-to-day housing services for the Charity's residents and prospective residents.


Main duties will include:


� Be a main point of contact on site for residents with respect to housing management and welfare and wellbeing matters.


� Meeting and welcoming visitors and prospective residents and where scheduled, providing guided tours and application information.



  • Co-ordinating with the Scheme Manager and external providers to arrange and manage planned works and arrange property access to ensure works are completed on time.

  • Manage residents' charge accounts, maintaining accurate data on payments, deposits, receipts, arrears and housing benefits flagging these for the CEO. Providing support for residents and referring them to and working with appropriate agencies to ensure the resident's account is bought into control via sustainable agreements.

  • Follow financial procedures and take responsibility for and record all monies received for items such as weekly maintenance charges, Carecall, cleaning, laundry and shopping charges.

  • Maintain a petty cash account for incidental and authorised expenditure.

  • Where older and vulnerable residents are at risk of loneliness or may benefit from wellbeing support which promotes independent living identify and deliver appropriate services.

  • Encourage and assist residents in organising events and activities on-site and outings.

  • Manage and organise the booking of guest flats and communal spaces.

  • Ensure the site is secure and safe, maintain visitor and access records.

  • Plan and organise with the Scheme Manager a cleaning rota that ensures the site is clean, safe and welcoming at all times including guest rooms and the chapel.

  • Report on any building or infrastructure defects that require maintenance.

  • Ensure contractors have access levels which comply with health, safety and safeguarding standards and which minimise disruption.

  • Organise and/or perform deep cleaning duties when required.

  • Manage the ordering and maintenance of a stock of cleaning materials and supplies and ensure these are replenished and costed within the agreed budget.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with the residents and a schedule of contact that is appropriate for their needs and which protects their welfare, utilising the Carecall system.

  • Answer emergency calls and ensure that the correct service is contacted.

  • Ensure each resident has access to advice and support and treatment for all aspects of their health and wellbeing via the appropriate agencies and providers.

  • Where residents need assistance in exceptional circumstances such as illness or emergencies, arrange for temporary help with essential services.

  • Monitor and report on regulatory and compliance matters, including safeguarding matters.


The ideal candidate will be a good communicator (both verbal and written) with great admin skills and be efficient in using MS packages including Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be empathetic and understanding and have a willingness to assist others


You MUST have a full UK Driving Licence


Please note - This is a residential position where you will be living on-site, under license and rent free, in your own 2-bedroom, self-contained flat. Council Tax and all utility bills will be covered by the Charity.
