Our client a Law Enforcement organisation is currently recruiting for a Deputy Head of Communications, to start ASAP pending a security clearance which can take up to 4 weeks, duration 4 months with a possible extension, pay £27.28ph, hours Mon-Fri 36 hours per week.

About the role;

Our client is seeking to appoint a temporary Deputy Head of Communications with a sharp news sense, excellent judgement and a track record of building effective teams. The successful candidate will be flexible, creative and able to respond to changes in today's fast-moving media and digital environment.

This role involves explaining and defending our clients work in pursuing complex economic crime. You will lead a range of communications activities, including media relations, communications planning, internal and external communications, social media, events and evaluation.

The Deputy Head of Communications sits within Strategy & Policy, reporting in the first instance to the Head of Engagement. It's a great opportunity to play a leading role in civil service communications, and to support positive change.

Key responsibilities;

  • Direct and generate proactive print, broadcast and digital media coverage of our clients work, including through targeted campaigns and original, engaging content for all channels. Ensure all output is cohesive and reflects a single narrative understanding of our client.

  • Develop and deliver internal and external communications strategies, including multi-strand communications across all channels that enhances the reputation of our client.

  • Support the communications team, working with our client senior leaders, effectively to respond to media interest and live stories - including to rebut misrepresentation of our clients work and outcomes.

  • Monitor, measure and report on the impact of media and campaign activity.

  • Oversee the management of our client's website and intranet
