Adecco are proud to be working with an educational facility who are once seeking a Deputy Site Manager, see below:


Location: Broadstairs, Kent


Salary: £27,500 - £29,500


Hours: 37 hours per week


Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:



  • Be responsible for the maintenance, security and safety of the site.

  • Deputise for the Site Manager in their absence.

  • Provide a nurturing, safe and welcoming environment for all children.

  • Liaison with staff, outside employers and contractors.

  • Manage the school fleet, including maintenance schedules, safety checks, accident management, organising repairs and replacement.

  • Manage the maintenance database to ensure tasks are allocated appropriately, completed and reported.

  • Take lead on the training to all staff in Fire, Security and Health & Safety.

  • Day to day management of the Water Management Plan, ensuring the regular checking, testing and flushing are undertaken and recorded in line with statutory guidance.

  • Ensure repairs by approved contractors are carried out to the correct standard. (This may on occasion include managing contractors out of hours on weekdays or at weekends)

  • Carry out minor repairs to the site such as adjustments to doors and windows, replacement of locks, board up or replace windows, carpentry repairs, tap washers, light diffusers and general maintenance repairs.

  • Operate and check boiler and ventilation systems and ensure they are maintained to the correct standard.

  • Check fire appliances ensuring they are serviced by approved contractors, testing weekly and maintain records.

  • Maintain the grounds, reporting defects to the Site Manager.

  • Carrying out emergency cleaning duties e.g. broken glass, flood damage etc.

  • Operate the lettings system, ensuring facilities are provided and that the areas are returned to their normal use.

  • Ensure the premises are free from hazards and safe, warm and secure for students, staff and visitors.

  • Be a registered key holder and ensure the security of the premises.

  • Maintain a database of access fobs and amend/update when required

  • Maintain swimming pool areas including testing water, ensuring chemicals are used correctly.

  • Monitoring and ordering of fuel ensuring economy measures are carried out.

  • Implementing risk management policies.

  • Reporting any spend against agreed budgets.

  • Moving and distribution of furniture, equipment and stores.

  • Organise and undertake deliveries.

  • To undertake Saturday morning cover on a rota basis

  • To undertake call out duties during weekday evenings and weekends on a rota system.

  • To ensure the line manager is made aware of any concerns in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection, including concerns about the practice of a colleague.


Experience and skills required for this position:



  • To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children's Act 2004 and statutory guidance (Working Together, 2015) in relation to child protection and safeguarding children and people.

  • Full clean driving licence, ideally with the code D1 included.

  • Willing to undertake additional training in all areas of site maintenance.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Experience of engaging and monitoring contractors.

  • Physically fit.

  • To professionally and clearly communicate in a range of situations; including using email and reports.

  • Be familiar with MS Office Word and the Internet.

  • Ability to attend school (outside normal hours) to undertake emergency maintenance work and security issues.

  • Ability to prioritise own work and meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively

  • Be able to achieve a good standard of work.

  • Have knowledge of Health & Safety, and managing risks and developing processes to manage risk.

  • A commitment to working in ways that promote inclusion and equality of opportunity.

  • Experience of working in a school, local authority or an organisation with several disciplines.

  • Knowledge of First Aid

  • Experience and ability to operate plant equipment.

  • A recognised building trade.

  • 2 years' experience of general building maintenance.

  • Knowledge of: - Asbestos management, Legionella awareness / water management, Ladder safety inspection
