Working as part of a team with other members of support staff in the Education Support Office, duties will include:

  • Undertaking reception duties to provide a friendly and welcoming service to the Department's students, staff and other customers to ensure a speedy resolution of enquiries/issues by consulting with other colleagues across the University.

  • Ensuring that office equipment such as shared printers and stationery supplies are maintained.

  • Distributing the office post out to relevant staff and students.

  • Monitoring the office generic email inbox.

  • Liaising with external suppliers to order catering for events.

  • Raising requisitions for office supplies and catering orders.

  • Provide general support to academic members of staff related to education matters, such as room and equipment bookings and production and distribution of teaching materials.

  • Assisting in maintaining student records on the University system and maintaining the Department's filing system and archives.

  • Assist in the collation, distribution and recording of student coursework and examination scripts

  • Assist in the preparation of standard letters/emails/notices to students, as required.

  • Assist in the organisation of student related activities, such as Welcome Week, Graduation and PASS (Peer Assisted Study Scheme).

  • Assist in the production of class registers and recording of student absences.

  • Assist in the collation of Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator timesheets.

  • Assist in other areas of support to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as directed by the Education Support Manager and Education Officer.

  • To liaise with other parts of the University, e.g. other Departments, Faculty Administration, Student Records Office, Student Services Centre, HR Services where necessary.

  • To undertake appropriate training and development activities.

  • Other duties commensurate with the grade and position as defined by the Head of Department or his/her Officers including support to other colleagues in the Department when required, such as during times of peak workflow, holidays, sickness etc.
