JOB TITLE: Employment Advisor
LOCATION: Remotely based / in Hounslow when safe to return to the office
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION: initial 3 months contract
PAY RATE: £17.65 PAYE / £22.85 Umbrella
IR35 STATUS: Inside



PURPOSE OF ROLE:



  • To work as part of the Skills & Employment Team to support unemployed Hounslow residents to progress towards employment, through workshops, one to one advice and guidance and the identification of suitable training courses

  • To work with colleagues to promote the Job Brokerage service and identify new clients

  • To work with local employers to identify employment opportunities

  • To work with local partners including training providers and JCP to develop referral pathways.



Specific Duties and Responsibilities:





    1. To manage a caseload of clients that are seeking work, or in low paid work; providing information, advice and guidance

    2. To develop referral pathways and agreements with local partners and other agencies

    3. To engage in outreach activity to identify and sign up new clients to the service

    4. To carry out initial assessment of clients, including literacy, numeracy and skills checks

    5. To assess clients' barriers to work and identify ways to help them overcome these barriers

    6. Delivery of one to one advice and guidance sessions

    7. Development and delivery of employment and skills workshops and classes

    8. To liaise with local employers and employer engagement advisors to understand local vacancies and changes in the local labour market

    9. To prepare clients to successfully apply for specific job vacancies, ensuring that employer needs are understood

    10. Identify suitable training courses for clients and assist them in signing up and accessing funding, where relevant

    11. To collect and share with colleagues and clients information on the local labour market, live vacancies and key local employers

    12. To attend meetings with internal and external colleagues

    13. To track clients' progress and produce accurate records and reports on clients and related activity, and contribute to the team's monitoring and contact databases

    14. To carry out and/or signpost clients to better-off calculations and benefits advice

    15. To participate in other activities such as job fairs and events, including leading on some activities

    16. Any other task that is considered reasonable to deliver the key performance indicators set out below.





Knowledge & Experience Required:



  • Experience and knowledge of designing and delivering employability / careers related information, advice and guidance with individuals and groups

  • Qualified to Level 3 or above in Advice and Guidance

  • Experience of working in a variety of locations without constant supervision

  • Experience of successful liaison with employers to understand their training and /or employment needs, and to place jobseekers into vacancies

  • Knowledge of individuals' barriers to employment and how they can be supported to overcome them

  • Knowledge of the local labour market

  • Experience of working with people with a wide range of needs and capabilities.
