JOB TITLE: Employment Support Officer
LOCATION: Remotely based / in Wandsworth when safe to return to the office
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION: initial 3 months contract
PAY RATE: £15.84 PAYE or £20.50 Umbrella per hour
IR35 STATUS: Inside



Two experienced Employment Advice and Guidance Officers are required to join a team providing IAG support for residents of Wandsworth, Richmond and Kingston. Contract will be for an initial 12 weeks whilst longer-term recruitment takes place. Work will be delivered initially on a remote basis using a corporate laptop, mobile phone, email, MS Office and MS teams. As the placement progresses there will be a requirement for some regular face to face working in COVID-secure offices.

We are looking for Advisers who are confident and independent, and skilled working remotely. Interviews will be held online.



Job Purpose:


To support the successful delivery of neighbourhood based employment support in the Aspirations areas by providing advice and support to Wandsworth Residents to achieve sustainable employment and employability outcomes.



Specific Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Working to the Employment Support Manager, to provide support and advice for unemployed residents to secure sustainable employment and career development outcomes

  • To work closely with JCP and other partners to deliver a joined up, wrap around service to the client group from Wandsworth

  • To assess client needs and develop individual actions plans to achieve sustainable employment and career outcomes

  • To support the Employment Support Manager to identify and source other services, organize events, workshops and training sessions to support the client group

  • To work closely with the wider Employment Delivery team to support clients into work

  • To maintain client records and collect management information in line with the departmental monitoring and reporting framework and as directed by the Employment Support Manager

  • To organize events, workshops and training sessions in line with the Programme developed by the Employment Support Manager

  • To work with local community organisations and representatives in order to support the aims of the service

  • To attend local events, meetings and forums as required by the Employment Support Manager

  • To operate as lead within the People Team with regard to one of the borough's key Employment Sectors.

  • Support the ambitions, objectives and projects within the Council's wider Raising Aspirations programme as they apply to the residents of the identified areas.



Knowledge & Experience Required:



  • Knowledge of the range of barriers to employment faced by the unemployed and workless

  • Knowledge of interventions that can be deployed to support the unemployed and workless into sustainable employment and career development

  • Knowledge of regeneration programmes and the priorities/role of local authorities in their implementation

  • Knowledge of recruitment in the one of the borough's key employment sectors, in particular entry routes for both new and experienced workers.

  • Practical experience of providing employment support and advice to the unemployed and workless, particularly developing individual action plans

  • Experience of delivering successful employment and career outcomes to unemployed people

  • Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with organisations from the public and community/voluntary sectors
