We are seeking a Machine Shop Manager to manage of client very busy and successful Machine shop.

You will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing a large team of machinists in the smooth and efficient running of the department.

Reporting to the Production Manager you will work closely with the production team in the safe and productive delivery of projects.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated leader and communicator and possess a logical approach to work. Previous experience in a Machine Shop environment is desirable along with experience in supervising processes and people.

Responsibilities include:

  • The day to day management of the Machine Shop Department ensuring all processes are carried out in an efficient, safe and in a cost-effective manner

  • Prioritise and schedule the workload to ensure timely delivery of all parts to the shop floor

  • Management of stocks and associated quality control measures

  • Provide regular feedback to employees, carry out performance reviews and ensure all training and skills are monitored and updated

  • Identify key areas for improvement within the machine shop to improve the efficiency and quality of items produced.

  • Management of half year and year end material stock takes

  • Contribute to production and management meetings in the development of the machine shop and its production capabilities.

  • Attend daily production meetings

  • Work alongside other department to achieve the company goals

  • Drive continuous improvement and operating methodology improvements within the department

  • Ensuring all equipment is regularly serviced and maintained in good working order

  • Ensuring compliance with all Company Quality, Environment and Health & Safety Procedures

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of a Machine Shop environment including CNC

  • Ability to effectively lead a team

  • Good computer skills including MS Office

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
