An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Protection Officer to join a public sector organisation based in East London.

The role will assist the environmental protection team by contributing to the preparation and delivery of the statutory London Local Air Quality Management (LLAQM) functions of the organisation's Air Quality Management Plan and Air Quality Action Plan. The role will also assist on general environmental protection duties, primarily investigating nuisance complaints and other environmental protection functions.

Key duties will include:

  • To assist with the implementation of the London Local Air Quality Management regime

  • Detailed assessment, progress reports and air quality action plans and carry out public consultation

  • Coordinate steering group and workshop for air quality action plans and carry out public consultation

  • Assess caseload of planning consultations and provide appropriate comments relating to pollution and air quality ensuring that any current technical, statutory and policy standards are satisfied

  • Implement and coordinate the air quality monitoring stations by visiting the sites to ensure replacement of tubes and the calibration of the continuous analysers

  • Prepare and submit bid for GLA air quality grant funding

  • Manage and lead on the implementation and delivery of actions detailed within current and/or future air quality plans
