We are looking for 2 Estimators; 1 x Junior and 1 x Senior level for our multi award winning Worcestershire based client.

Demonstrating outstanding customer service skills, the successful candidate will have excellent time management and scheduling skills, have the ability to work under constant pressure and proficient in using computer applications. Higher level Microsoft Excel skills are also an absolute MUST for this role as well as effective problem solving skills.

You will assist and produce priced tenders that are accurate, clearly detailed, competitive and returned within specified time frames; therefore, a high level of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines is required.

You will also maintain good relationships with prospective clients and professionals to promote further tender invitations.

As a Junior Estimator a basic understanding of the building and construction industry would be beneficial as well as outstanding mathematical skills or financial acumen due to the statistical and analytical nature of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carefully inspect tender documentation. Analyse exact requirements and identify areas that have implications to the company i.e. a contractual requirement may be onerous.

  • Provide a detailed "take-off" and Bill of Quantities

  • Work on traditional Plan and Specification and Design and Build Contracts.

  • Rate build-ups to be checked and amended where necessary.

  • Clearly mark BQ to identify items to have enquiries sent out, together with specification, prelim elements and appropriate drawings. Monitor enquiry process and dates for quote returns. �

  • Oversee or complete the quote analysis comparison and make selection for inclusion in priced tender.

  • Contact appropriate person to arrange site inspection if required.

  • Visit site and make all necessary record notes and take appropriate photographs.

  • Assimilate information and take account of in tender pricing.

  • Assess individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes.

  • Using standard prelim forms build-up allowances for each project. Discuss construction sequence of project with Contracts Managers to enable a proposed construction period to be determined. Use to calculate prelim allowance. Consider other construction methods and determine the specific prelim requirements.

  • Re-assess build-ups taking account of all known conditions and requirements and adjust figures as necessary.

  • Assessing the levels of risk on a project

  • Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities

  • Prepare tender build-ups and arrange a meeting with the relevant Director to adjudicate the price prior to tender submission.

  • Collate tender information and build-ups, and complete estimator's written report section of the handover meeting. Arrange convenient meeting date with contracts department within one week of letter of intent. Attend meetings, explain project and handover documentation and additional copies as necessary.

  • If required, meet with the Client team to carry out value engineering exercises, liaising with the relevant internal departments and suppliers and/or sub-contractors as appropriate

  • Assist others in selection of materials and sub-contractors when required to do so and propose alternative materials or methods.

  • The role will pick up other duties and responsibilities as the company grows and expands.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of building, material components, building regulations, estimating (including taking-off) and H&S.

  • Management skills - programming, planning, compiling reports.

  • Word processing and computer skills for record keeping/data entry and report writing - Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities.

  • Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills; well-spoken and personable; able to get on with diverse personalities

  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail

  • Highly numerate with well-developed ability to accurately manipulate numerical information

  • Confident and resourceful

  • Evidence of maintaining a professional, consistent and fair approach

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or within a team

  • Driving license holder with own car

Salary and Benefits.... Negotiable and very competitive

Hours of work 8.30-5.00 there may also be some flexibility to work from home.
