Our client is currently recruiting for a Facilities Assistant/Handyman to work in their centre to deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets etc, the centre is a Prison for people aged 12-18 years old, location Rugby, start ASAP, duration 3 months, the client is recruiting for the role on a permanent basis and there is the opportunity to apply for this, pay £11.38ph, hours Mon-Fri working 37.5 per week. The successful candidate will be required to work 7:30-16:00 Monday to Friday, Monday to Sunday, on call 1 in 6 weeks

**Please note due to the nature of this client if successful you are required to go through a vetting process to secure an Enhanced DBS certificate.**

Purpose of the role;

  • As directed, to maintain and repair (or assist in the maintenance and repair) of assets, building fabric, services and estate

  • To operate planned maintenance procedures for assets etc, effectively and safely within their range of qualifications, training and experience.

  • To deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets etc. within their range of qualifications, training and experience as required and by out of hours response where necessary.

  • To assist in the training and development of other maintenance/technical staff involved in site maintenance activities

  • Work effectively with colleagues, partners, national teams and supply chain partners

  • To deliver Fabric and building repairs within their skillset

Size and scope

  • Reporting into the Facilities Co-ordinator

  • A member of the team is committed to engaging and developing staff to build positive and productive relationships with CYP to enable their rehabilitation and reduce reoffending

Key responsibilities;

To undertake individually where competent, or assist more qualified staff in the following areas;

  • Maintenance inspection and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security etc. equipment and services on site.

  • Maintenance inspection and repairs to various assets, building fabric and estate, e.g. furniture, internal and external fixtures and fittings, grounds, access and parking, etc.

  • Diagnosing faults on all M & E support systems and rectifying where within levels of competence.

  • Following detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and repairs

  • Assisting in development of maintenance routines and procedures and preparing and maintaining relevant technical records.

  • Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a teamwork basis.

  • To participate in emergency call out arrangements on a roster basis in respect of the site within the appropriate skill set
