An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join a public sector organisation based in East London.


The role will act as lead Finance Business Partner for a defined set of services within the organisation, providing financial advice and support to Directors, Heads of Services and other budget holders.


The successful applicant will be fully qualified CCAB accountant or AAT/part qualified and have demonstrable knowledge of accounting principles, policies and practices including experience of year end closure of accounts. Public sector experience is preferable.


Key duties will include:



  • Budget monitoring and forecasting

  • Technical advice in specialist area, i.e. dedicated schools grant, HRA, etc

  • Provision of accurate and timely reports on relevant financial issues and performance

  • Providing data analysis and options appraisal to enable decision making

  • Budget setting and financial planning

  • Year end processes including providing specified notes to the accounts

  • Staying informed of financial regulations and legalities relevant to the service area and public sector finance

  • To work with managers to identify financial risks and pressures and ensure these are reported in good time to the Head of Finance

  • Working with managers and budget holders to develop and evaluate mitigations or options for maximising opportunities

  • To provide working papers and other evidence and respond to auditors ensuring that queries are resolved promptly, and recommendations are implemented

  • To ensure the preparation of all relevant statutory returns, statistic, and grant claims

  • To produce finance reports for departmental management meetings, partnership meetings and other key meetings

  • Draft the financial implications of records and present reports at meetings

  • Monitor and evaluate finance processes and procedures and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standing orders
