I'm currently recruiting for one of my clients in the Camden area. They're currently looking for a finance officer to join there team on a temporary basis.


  • To carry out banking on behalf of the organisation

  • To operate the petty cash system.

  • To manage the organisations bank accounts and ensure that authorised signatories are up to date.

  • To maintain adequate insurance cover on the housings stick

  • To maintain records and make payments regarding business premises including rent, rates, utilities etc.

  • In liaison with the relevant staff to check and pay appropriate invoices.

  • To be responsible for management and running of the organisations rent accounting system, ensuring that the weekly rent cycle of charges, payments and amendments is correctly processed.

  • To reconcile rent ledger figures to the organisations rent bank account weekly.

  • To prepare annual service charge information where required.

  • To liaise with the Rent Officer where required.

  • To prepare and pay staff salaries, SSP and maternity pay and keep appropriate records, to administer staff pension scheme, to make monthly payments and the annual return to the HMRC and to complete monthly payroll reconciliations

  • To claim appropriate allowances and check receipt of same from partner agencies, to check and pay them rent due and to monitor service charges.

  • To present the draft annual accounts before the members of the FSC / MC.

  • To prepare the Share Register as required by the auditors.

  • To check and pay mortgage repayments to financial institutions.

  • To keep all development finance and reinvestment records and manage as required in liaison with other staff and consultants.

  • To reconcile the bank accounts monthly.

  • To prepare cash flow statements as required.

  • To maintain the fixed assets register.

  • To prepare quarterly management accounts with appropriate explanatory notes and monitor progress against budget and cash flow.

  • To produce a year-end trial balance, journal entries and all other records needed for the production of annual accounts.

  • To arrange the annual audit and liaise with the auditor and Housing Manager and Maintenance Manager regarding the production of statutory accounts within the required deadlines and to submit the accounts to all relevant authorities.

  • In conjunction with the Housing Manager, advise the co-op on external financial regulations, constraints and opportunities.

  • To service the Finance Sub-Committee, alerting them, the Manager, and the Treasurer to matters of financial concern.

  • To attend meetings when required.

  • To advise on all financial matters, including the financial implications of all agreements entered into and long-term planning.

  • To assist in the appraisal of financial computer software and make recommendations on suitability for purchase.
