FULL TIME - 36 HOURS PER WEEK


TEMP ROLE - 3 MONTHS MINIMUM


£15.53 TO £18.27 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE



Job Purpose


The purpose of this role is to provide support to Senior Finance Officers and the Finance Manager to facilitate effective budget management, including the provision of accurate and timely financial information the Directorate's budget holders and to provide finance support to commissioning, procurements and efficiency programmes.



Specific Duties and Responsibilities



  • To ensure that the services for both Councils are dealt with on an equitable basis to deliver the standards required for each, as agreed annually by the Executives of both Councils

  • Assists in the annual close of accounts processes, ensuring departmental staff are informed of deadlines and requirements and contributes towards effective training, guidance and assistance to ensure the department's accounts are closed accurately and by set deadlines

  • Assists in the preparation, control, monitoring and revision of the annual budget, and assists in ensuring accuracy of financial reporting, including identifying errors and proactively correcting these in a timely manner

  • Working with budget managers to help them understand their budgets and provide accurate budget monitoring information and to undertake financial training for budget managers

  • Provide timely and accurate information to both internal/ external audit as required

  • Detailed analysis of income and expenditure profiles/trends to provide projections on a sound basis.

  • Assist in the preparation and collation of information for statutory/non-statutory returns.


Person Specification Requirements



  • An up to date knowledge of the main issues affecting local government finance


  • Experience of undertaking financial calculations including reconciliations.



  • Experience of maintaining accurate financial records and following financial business procedures.

  • Experience of analysing complex information and make sound evidence based recommendations.

  • Experience of using an accounting software system to input transactions and generate reports.

  • Experience of designing spreadsheets and using them for analysis and reporting.
