Working hours: Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm


Location: Aldgate


Salary: up to £68,340pa (DOE) + company bonus


Duration: Fixed term contract for 6 months


Job Description:


Pontoon has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Support Manager to join a prestigious financial services company on a fixed term contract. As a Finance Support Manager you will be reporting to the Head of Financial Control, responsible for leading a team which delivers finance day to day services, supporting colleagues, systems and processes across the Finance and Procurement department, and for quality assuring and streamlining those services in line with customer needs; to help our client achieve its overall vision and value for money objectives.


Direct responsibility for GL integrity, preparing monthly accounts and month end close, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, tax compliance and expenses policies



Duties



  • Core daily and month-end accounting processes 50%; Team Leadership 30%; Quality Assurance 20%;

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts

  • Reviewing daily bank reconciliations

  • Oversee accounts payable to ensure suppliers are paid to terms and supporting the full P2P process

  • Reviewing monthly payroll and ensuring tax compliance

  • Reviewing expense claims for adherence to policy

  • Operating key controls of the business to the highest standard

  • Quality assurance of company's financial outputs

  • Support colleagues, systems and processes across the Finance and Procurement department

  • Ensure the processes and systems underpinning the financial control framework and financial support processes are fit for purpose, effectively managed, maintained under change control, and changes satisfactorily tested

  • Operate key finance processes to required standards of quality, cost and timeliness

  • Ensure the company meets all accounting regulations/standards

  • Best practice/innovation opportunities assessments

  • Contribute to the production of the Annual Report and Accounts (ARAC)

  • Contribute to company's strategy development from a financial perspective




Continuous Process Improvement



  • Ensure the identification of continuous improvement, best practice and/or innovation opportunities

  • Supporting customers in identification and achievement of value for money opportunities


It would be great to see candidates with:



  • Qualified accountant with post qualification experience of financial systems and processes and experience of management

  • Production of month end accounts

  • Strong management accounting technical expertise and effective knowledge of the financial control framework

  • Experience of SUN and iPOS particularly desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge in and ability to operate core finance processes (e.g. GL ownership, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounting standards implementation, personal expenses policy)

  • Experience of team management and ideally of matrix structures

  • How to engage effectively with, and support, internal customers

  • Contribution to Annual Report and Accounts (ARAC) to the internal and external standards required
