An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Chef to join an organisation based in Dagenham.

The Head Chef's responsibilities will include selecting recipes, setting up menus and preparing high quality dishes. You will be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. You will make sure health and safety regulations are observed in the kitchen at all times and a robust cleaning schedule is followed. You will be setting up menus for banqueting services and will have full accountability of the food operation in the restaurant and Caf�. The successful applicant will be responsible for all food related purchases of the operation and will ensure financial targets are achieved and contribute to delivering value for money.

Key duties will include:

  • To direct, motivate and train the kitchen team

  • To be in charge of porters duties and rotas

  • To organise department rotas and ensure accurate timesheets

  • To make sure food is coked and served in a timely manner

  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff

  • Inform waiter staff about daily specials

  • Ensure excellent presentation of dishes

  • To follow all instructions and tasks directed by the Operations Manager

  • Supervise Cooks and assist as needed, making sure that they adhere to dressing code of the company at all times

  • To run a "customer's always right policy" among the kitchen team

  • Monitor food stock and place orders in correct time

  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date or damaged items.

  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients and dishes.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

  • To promote a productive team work atmosphere

  • To be fully knowledgeable of all kitchen equipment.

  • To have advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques

  • To have excellent leadership skills

  • To attend daily and departmental meetings with Operations Manager, Deputy Restaurant Manager and Events Manager

  • To have excellent time management abilities

  • To support Events Manager with all menus and food preparation for meetings and events

  • To keep up to date filing of all food supply and staff costs

  • To assure suppliers are always best price effective.

The role offers a flexible 40 hours, 5 days work out of 7.
