Head of Catering & Assistant Catering Manager

Our busy hospitality/events client based just outside of Chelmsford are recruiting a Head of Catering and Assistant Catering Manager to join their friendly team on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a similar role, access to their own vehicle and the ability to be flexible with hours (due to events etc).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain and set up catering operative for event days and none event days

  • Adhere to Emergency Procedures and any/all Events Management Plans (EMPs)

  • Produce EMPs where necessary

  • Line manage assistant catering manager, bar manager and all key accountabilities

  • Ensure all catering casual works are dress appropriately and follow standards.

  • Identify staff training requirements and link with HR Manager

  • Deal with on the spot disputes or complaints in an appropriate manner.

  • Handle guest feedback with confidence and share/escalate to Commercial Manager

  • Arrange the security requirements for events with the Facilities Manager as required and in accordance with licensing laws and racecourse security procedures.

  • Manage and monitor the Sales & Events Co-ordinator to ensure that sales targets are achieved providing a breakdown of new and repeat business and that enquiries are being responded to in a timely manner.

  • Work in conjunction with the finance team to ensure that invoices are sent promptly and that they are correct.

  • Manage internal online logistics for all hospitality and restaurants which includes, but is not limited to, setting up menus on tills.

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining stock levels of linen, glassware, cutlery, crockery, as well as stationery for the catering team. Maintain an inventory and ensure it is kept up to date. Order from external suppliers where required, adhering to company approval processes/financial

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers. Support the resolution of any on the spot disputes in an appropriate manner, but escalate to a senior manager where required.

  • Manage day to day conferences and events, including opening and closing of the building when required, and customer liaison/support on the

  • Responsible for completing the table plans for functions and race days, liaising with members of the Commercial Team when required, particularly when creating large scale function

Salary: £35,000-£45,000
