Adecco has an exciting role in today for a Health, Safety and Environmental Office to join our local client based in North Ayrshire on a permanent basis.


The main role of the Health, Safety and Environmental Officer is to assist and support the site management & workforce in the prevention of accidents and ill health.



You will have many responsibilities, some will include:


Monitor, manage and implement the requirements of the HSE & Energy Management systems ensuring compliance with company policy and legal requirements


Agree site based objectives and targets with Senior Management to drive continuous improvement initiatives


Conduct operational and management system internal audits covering occupational health, safety, environment and energy


Support site management in the review and development of HSE documentation. Highlighting areas of potential risk & developing action plans with managers & employees to reduce residual risk / hazards within the workplace


Provide advice, guidance, information, instruction and training on local HSE issues, e.g. Change Management, lifting & slinging to ensure all persons on site are aware of their HSE role & responsibilities


Complete induction training covering HSE & Energy for new employees, contractors and visitors where applicable


Manage and co-ordinate emergency preparedness drills / training for fire evacuation, serious accident / incident


Complete robust investigations of incidents, inclusive of personal injury, near miss, plant damage & environmental. Produce statistical data on findings to include root cause analysis & provide recommendations for corrective actions


Collate HSE information to present at monthly HSE meetings and other committees/forums in line with the requirements of the (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 standards


Bring to the attention of the local Senior Management Team and Senior HSE representatives any major health and safety issues



To be considered you must have the following:


Qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate or other recognised qualification i.e. I.O.S.H Managing safely. An environmental qualification is desirable e.g. NEBOSH certificate in Environmental Management or IEMA


Working HSE experience in within a heavy engineering / manufacturing environment good working knowledge of HSE Law


Experience of working to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 Management systems


Ability to conduct & review RAMS documentation to ensure all applicable controls are available and / or generate required action plants


Training/presentation experience to befit your involvement in preparing training for inductions, training programs & chairing meetings


Experience of lifting / slinging, use of fork lift truck or first aid is desirable. Training to instructor level for crane and fork truck operation is very desirable


Experience of Change management & CDM regulations
